The Motorola Droid 2 Is Being Released In A R2D2 Version

Those who have been waiting patiently for the Motorola Droid 2 will also have a chance at owning a special version. The R2D2 Android from the movie Star Wars is going to be featured on the back of some Motorola Droid 2 models. If you have not yet seen the back of the Motorola Droid 2 R2D2, you should. It is very cool. The R2D2 from the film was round, but the Droid 2 R2D2 smartphone does a good job of depicting the famous droid on the back in silver and blue. That is not all. This smartphone has accessories that back up the theme. Wallpapers are already available with the same theme. Some of them are live action wallpapers. One of the live action types has an in-cockpit rendition of a jump-to-lightspeed event.

The Motorola Droid 2 R2D2 is not just cool. It is powerful. It comes out with the latest version of the android operating system from Google.
It is fast, and does a myriad of things with over 130,000 apps ( applications ) that help you do everything from save money to keep in contact with friends and family. The processor in this smartphone is running at 1000 megahertz. This is powerful enough to keep the screen from lagging in whatever program or menu that is brought up.

The Motorola Droid 2 R2D2 has a special ability that only the newer android devices had. It can share a Wi-Fi signal with surrounding devices. If you get this Droid 2 with Verizon, they will also charge you twenty dollars to use the feature, but hey, it is available.

The camera on the Motorola Droid 2 R2D2 is a five Megapixel model. This is good enough for many uses, but not yet for high definition. Motorola gave this smartphone a lot of features. From the dual LED flash, to geo tagging, to editing photos, the Droid 2 can do it. It also accepts streaming videos from youtube and takes its own videos at the rate of thirty frames per second. This is one of the top video rates of smartphones worldwide.

Many of the regular wireless connections you have come to expect from upscale smartphones are on the Motorola Droid 2 R2D2. There is the aforementioned Wi-Fi in “B”, “G” and “N” modes, bluetooth, 3G ( 1xEV-DO rA ) and a web browser. There are no EDGE, GPRS, FM radio or WiMaX features. This smartphone does not use GSM voice networks. It is primarily for Verizon customers.

The screen on the Motorola Droid 2 R2D2 is clear and crisp and sized at 3.7 inches. This is a good looking display, and Motorola gave it 480 by 854 pixels of power. It has all the cool features, including swype input. This is a quick way to open programs or do tasks just by drawing a quick swype across the screen.

Internally, the Droid 2 has two gigabytes of memory expandable to 40 with the use of a MicroSD card. Motorola is nice and provides a free eight gigabyte card along with the R2D2. The battery is hefty and gives an impressive ten hour of talk time. It is for sale now at “Big Red” ( Verizon ) for $199 after rebate.
