The Viewsonic 7 is causing some people to put on a big smile. The major sites online are particularly happy about seeing Viewsonic put out a tablet PC. Once you get a first look at this creation it is easy to see why. This has classy black front glass trimming and an overall look of something you might see from Apple. If you have ever heard of an “OlivePad” this tablet PC looks strikingly similar.

This tablet PC comes with two cameras, one for video conferencing on the front, and the regular one on the back.
It has touch buttons lining the sides of the tablet. Four touch buttons are directly under the screen on the black glass trim. These are for Android support. The regular wireless connections are all here. There is Wi-Fi, bluetooth, GPS, 3G and of course a web browser for the Viewsonic 7.

The Android 2.2 operating system is being flaunted on the Viewsonic 7. This is a very popular interface for the mobile world. It has around 120,000 applications ( popularly called “apps” ) that can do a greater number of things than ever before. Save money, track friends, play games and many more things using the Android system.

The 2.2 version, called Froyo, also makes the Viewsonic 7 a Wi-Fi hotspot. You can view Flash files in the web browser without a problem. Speaking of the web browser, it is the popular WebKit browser and supports “pinch and zoom”. This is the ability to enlarge the web page by specific movements of the fingers.

If you were were wondering what the “surprise” is for the Viewsonic 7, it is the SIM slot. It is not the micro SIM slot, it is a full sized one. Yes, this is a tablet PC that also makes phone calls. No actual carrier networks have been announced, but rest assured, they will be available. There is no microphone on the Viewsonic tablet, but bluetooth can be used for the purpose of phone conversations.

The screen on the Viewsonic 7 is of course seven inches in size. There is a larger ten inch Viewsonic tablet being talked about. The size of an iPad screen is just under ten inches. No videos have yet circulated around the internet as to what material the screen uses. Samsung uses the superior AMOLED material, while Apple still uses the older LCD technology.

If you wonder where you heard the Viewsonic name before, they make computer monitors and displays. They have been known for high quality screens in the recent past. The Viewsonic 7 should be a welcome player in the exploding tablet PC market. Look for a price of around $540 dollars in the United States and a pre-release date of October of this year.
